Kenny Haiti Wins Best Artist Diaspora Caribbean at the 2025 Trace Awards

The Haitian music scene celebrates as Kenny Haiti clinches the coveted Best Artist Diaspora Caribbean award at the 2025 Trace Awards. This momentous achievement highlights his immense talent, unwavering dedication, and the impact of his music on the global stage. The Saint-Marc native has continued to break barriers, captivating audiences with his unique sound and inspiring journey.

“Congratulations to @kennyhaiti for winning Best Artist Diaspora Caribbean at the 2025 Trace Awards! Your talent and dedication have genuinely shined through, and this award is well-deserved. Keep making amazing music!” the official Trace Awards announcement read.

A Journey of Passion and Determination

Born Kenny Sinvil on June 26, Kenny Haiti has always been deeply connected to his Haitian roots. As his mother’s only child, he experienced an early tragedy: He never knew his father, who passed away when he was an infant. Despite this, Kenny grew up embracing Haiti’s rich culture and resilience, which remain at the core of his identity.

As a passionate fan of FC Barcelona and Argentina’s national football team, Kenny spends his free time following the sport he loves. White rice with lalo, a traditional Haitian dish, remains one of his favorite meals—a testament to his unwavering bond with his homeland.

From Basketball Dreams to Musical Stardom

After residing in the United States for over a decade, Kenny initially imagined a different future. In 2007, he left Haiti to reunite with his mother in Florida, hoping to pursue a professional basketball career. However, fate had other plans.

“I have always loved music. I chose to practice it instead of joining the police force… It was wasted effort for basketball because I was already past the age for a sporting career,” Kenny shared in a past interview.

It was through music that Kenny found his true calling. His blend of Afro-Caribbean rhythms, soulful lyrics, and compelling storytelling quickly earned him a loyal fan base. His ability to merge traditional Haitian sounds with contemporary influences has set him apart as a leading voice in the diaspora music scene.
